Required Resource
This is the most effective option.
The School language department and academic heads confirm that the
relevant Whuzoo language programme is a required resource to support the syllabus and learners receive a CD at the beginning of the year.
Some schools put bookpacks together while others list the required resourced for the year on the booklist. Either way, learners have a CD that backs up what they are learning in class and are able to practice the day's lesson at home - on their own
The Whuzoo programme extends the language learning into the home environment where parents can collaborate with teachers and help their children with their language learning.
The major advantage of this approach is that we are able to work with the language department to continually customise the programme to the schools changing syllabus and incorporate new ideas. These then further enrich both the customised as well as the standard programmmes.

Recommended Resource
For various reasons, some language departments or the school themselves approve the Whuzoo language programmes as recommended resources that learners can elect to use to support their language learning.
Parents are made aware of the resources via a flyer that is distributed by the school and parents typically have a deadline date within which to respond.
We assist this process by making flyers available, accepting EFT payments and co-ordinating with booksellers. We also collaborate with the language department in speaking to parents at information evenings, report handout and award evenings.
This is, needless to say, time intensive and requires a lot more effort, but there are language departments who have used this approach with some degree of success.
The advantage of this approach is that the language department and school are in a position to get an idea of the impact of the Whuzoo language programme as their learners progress through the year. Learners are also in a better position to advise their teachers where they are experiencing difficulties in their language learning.

General Communique
This applies to language departments or the school management that are not in a position to make the Whuzoo programme either a required or a recommended resource but still advocate the use of the language programme CD's for their learners.
The school distributes the current Whuzoo language programme flyer and sometimes facilitates the ordering process for their parents.
We assist this process by making flyers available and managing the parent ordering process and distribution. We also offer to speak to parents at information evenings, report handout and award evenings.
This approach requires the most effort from us but does mean that parents have an answer to their question about what they can do to help their children and those learners who do receive a programme CD are able to start mastering their language learning.
Numerous schools have started with this approach and have typically acquired some teacher licensed CD's to evaluate the programme and to assist them with 1:1 support .
There are some points that need to be borne in mind :

There are some points that need to be borne in mind :
- The weaker language learners and the high-flyers typically respond to the general communique but the 70% of learners in-between who are typically just coping, get missed
- Parents and learners tend to regard the general communique as an 'remedial aid offer' and it takes a long while to rebalance this perception
- Parents typically want to purchase the CD through the standard school channels
